FEI World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals, Gothenburg

Information

Sweden’s second city, Gothenburg, plays host to both the FEI World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals at the Scandinavium Arena in April 2019. Gothenburg Horse Show is one of the world’s leading indoor competitions in equestrian sport and since its inception in 1977 has welcomed more than 3 million spectators.

As well as watching the best show jumping and dressage riders in the world lock horns for their respective prestigious world cups, the Gothenburg show is jam packed with other classes showcasing everything from the elegant warmbloods Sweden is so famous for to fast and furious mounted games.

The city of Gothenburg is well known to be one of Europe’s hidden gems, and our tour will give you a flavour of the local culture and history, including going to visit the extraordinary 10th century Viking Long Ship, which was discovered in the River Gota in the 1930s!

The FEI World Cup Champion is the most prestigious annual title on offer in both the show jumping and dressage world. Riders across the globe in both disciplines compete in leagues, divided by region, with the leading riders from each league coming forward to the World Cup Final in Gothenburg.

Show jumping’s Western European league, which includes a round at London Olympia, kicks off in October. The different league dates vary in relation to the global show jumping seasons and show calendar, with several leagues running their first competitions as early as April this year!

Compared to show jumping’s 15 leagues and sub leagues, Dressage has a more modest 4; Western European, Central European, Pacific and North American. October also marks the start of the Western European league for dressage, and again our very own Olympia plays host to one of the rounds.
